Often times, businesses would survey multiple digital agencies before deciding if they are the right one to engage to bring their business towards digitalisation.

Most businesses tend to pick the one with the prettiest portfolio and the cheapest alternative around.

While those are good indicators, they don’t necessary translate well enough as an indicator to their ability to  achieve your goals for your business.

Hence, we in Catalyst Digital, had compiled a checklist to assist business owners like you to pick out the best digital agency for your business.

With that said, let’s begin!

#1 For SEO Hire

SEO is the acronym for Search Engine Optimisation.
If you are looking to improve awareness on your services or products, SEO is a component you do not want to miss out. In fact, we think all businesses regardless of their size, need to prioritize SEO.

Here are the questions you should ask:

  • How will you improve our search engine rankings?
  • How would you identify what our customers are searching on search engine?
  • What’s your process for earning high-quality links?
  • Do you follow Google Webmaster Guidelines?
  • How long will it take to see results?
  • What tool(s) do you use to track results and what metrics is the result based on?

A good copywriting attracts the right audience for your business.
If you are looking to target a certain demographic, age or gender for your services or products, a good copywriting is inevitable.

Here are the questions you should ask:

  • Can you show me the sample of your previous copywriting?
  • How will you ensure your copywriters understand our industry enough to write in accordance to our industry needs?
  • Can you show us the copywriting you would use to promote a skincare product to a female of 18 years old vs a female of 30 years old?

Social media is no longer just a “cool” thing to have. If you are not on social media, you are losing a lot of publicity as well as awareness with future potential customers.

Here are the questions you should ask:

  • How will you utilise our website in accordance with our social media?
  • What are the metrics you will report to us?
  • What social media should my company be on and what type of contents should we be posting there?
  • How will you ensure our social media presence reflects our brand?
  • How do you make content for our social media platforms?
  • How do you measure the return of investment on social media?

Website is the most important component in a digitalisation process of a business. Do it wrongly and you could be wasting resources. Do it right and it could open a whole new revenue source for your business.

Here are the questions you should ask:

  • Are you using pre-built template or custom design?
  • Do you implement SEO practices in our website? What are they?
  • How will you ensure the website concept is suitable for our business?
  • Do you provide website wireframe?
  • Will our website be able to scale  as our business grow?
  • Do you think we need e-commerce and why?
  • How many times will we be able to make changes to the website?
  • Are they any renewal fee and maintenance fee?

#5 General question

Lastly, to ensure a smooth working process, you must ask the following questions to the digital agency you wish to engage.
  • How will I stand out from competition?
  • How will you increase the conversion rate of my site?
  • Have you worked with businesses in my industry before?
  • How and who will I communicate with and what are the response windows?
  • How will you report on progress?
  • How will your marketing effort fits together?

Regardless of their answer, a good digital agency should be able to break every technological jargon and unfamiliar  terms into a language that you understands. Trying to explain their work in a term or sentence that you just couldn’t understand is definitely a bad sign.
