Answer:

Have you ever wondered about what’s the procedure behind a video production? In general, procedure is a compilation of multiple steps being applied to achieve certain results. Each step will consist of various elements that we need to be alert, aware of and cautious of.

For example, in order to bake a cake, you will need to follow a procedure. And it will most likely involve steps like buying ingredients, mixing the ingredients in a certain order, and baking it at a certain temperature within a period of time.

A procedure exists because it is an outcome of a regular practice that is being arranged in a sequence. In short, a procedure is the standard go-to method due to high usage and consistently getting the results that you wanted.

It is the same when it comes to making a video, there will be a procedure that will be used or applied. The procedure of video production can be separated into three phases. Pre-production, production and post production.

Pre-production phase emphasizes on planning the whole outlook of a video, whereby production phase is the phase where you actually produce and in the post-production phase, the focus will be on editing.

During pre-production phase, different talents behind the screen will be discussing and planning the outlook of the video. The relevant talents that are involved in this phase are usually the director, director of photography, scriptwriter, storyboard artist or perhaps the graphic artist.

The genre, creative direction, storyline, and script or copywriting are the common topics being discussed during the pre-production phase. Choices of actor or actresses or maybe voice talents will be chosen during this phase too depending on the genre of the video. Other than that, the team behind the scenes would also need to think about the filming location too if it is needed.

The tasks that are being handled during production varies depending on the genre of the video. For an animation video, the production phase and the post-production will most likely be combined and carried out at the same time. The graphic artists will work closely with the animators and video editors to create the relevant artworks, characters as well as arrange and edit the video accordingly based on the storyline.

For videos of other genres, filming or sound recording will take place in this phase. This is the phase where acting talents and voice talents will demonstrate their talents and worth. Camera operators, lights operators and sound system operators will work closely with the directors and acting talents during filming sessions to ensure what is being planned and confirmed during pre-production will be brought to life.

As mentioned previously, post-production phase for animation videos will most likely be combined with production phase whereby the video will be edited at the same time when the relevant assets or animated characters are created.

Once a filming or recording session is completed, the raw files will be viewed and edited by the video editors and perhaps the graphic editors. Footages will be viewed, arranged and trim accordingly and the right sound effects or graphic effects will be added in order to create the video that you wanted.

So, this is the procedure of creating a video. Sometimes, one might actually need to revert back to the previous step in the procedure when they are producing a video. For example, one of your voice talent is sick, he or she is not able to be involved in your video production, the team responsible for producing the video will need to look for another voice talent to carry out the task.

So this is the procedure being practiced when it comes to video production. Hope that this could give you a better picture about video production.
